Axel Jonsson (born 1991 in Sweden), studied painting at the Gerlesborgsskolan in Stockholm (2012–2014) and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna since 2014. He graduated in the class of Daniel Richter in November 2020. His first solo exhibition Butter In The Eyes (03–04.2021) took place in the project space of Galerie Elisabeth & Klaus Thoman [tart vienna], continued by his first gallery show at Galerie Elisabeth & Klaus Thoman Innsbruck (12.2022–02.2023). He is known for his figurative paintings, capturing the human kind in a bizarrely tragicomic way.
